GHOREPANI-POON HILL TREK – 10 DAYS
Overview
Trip Introduction:
Ghorepani-Poon hill trek will leave you awe-struck with its exotic landscape and the vistas of the closest northern mountain ranges. This one of the Annapurna treks is the shortest one can make in the northern Nepal. The trail covers a portion of Annapurna region, along with ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Project). It is usually a loop around Ghandruk and Ghorepani.
Starting from Nayapul, the trek passes through local Gurung and Managi villages, terraced landscapes and dense forests -offering sightings of local wildlife. One can enjoy sunrise and sunset from Poon Hill (3,210m/10,531ft), along with the rice fields (a photographer's paradise) and some of the closest vistas of Annapurna, Machapuchhre and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges. While ascending along the trail, one can encounter variety of Orchids and Rhododendrons. Observing the local tribe and festive of the region is another feature of the trek.
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival day in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Day 02 Kathmandu valley sightseeing & trek preparation
Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara (823m/2,700ft), 5-6 hrs drive
Day 04: Drive to Nayapul and trek to Tikhedhunga (1,577m/5,173 ft), 3-4 hrs walk
Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (2,850m/9,350ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Day 06: Poon hill hike (3210m/10528ft), and trek to Tadapani (2,710m/8,891ft), 6-7 hrs walk
Day 07: Trek to Ghandruk (1,990m/6,529ft), 3-4 hrs walk
Day 08: Trek to Pokhara (823m/2,700ft), 5 hrs walk & 1 hrs drive
Day 09: Drive to Kathmandu
Day 10: Departure from Kathmandu
