LANGTANG-HELAMBU EXPLORER TREK
Overview
Trip Introduction:
Helambu is located within the Langtang region in the northern Nepal. The desolated landscape of Helambu, Langtang is mainly inhabited by the ethnic tribe of Tamang. The valley also includes some of the famous mountains in the region, Langtang Lirung (7,246m/23,772ft), Gang Chhenpo (6,388m/20,958ft), Naya Kangri (5,846m/19,179ft), Dorje Lakpa (6,966m/22,854ft). Langtang-Helambu trek can prove to be an adventure-filled cultural tour of Himalaya.
Starting from Syabrubesi (100km north-west of Kathmandu), the trek will lead though the bamboo forests to the holy lake of Gosaikunda, which attracts thousands of pilgrims a year to perform a godly-act of taking a dip in the lake. The Helambu region begins at the Lauribina La pass (4,610m/15,120ft) and descends to the Melamchi valley. The region is famous for its Tibetan influenced Buddhist monasteries, Gosaikunda Lake and apples.
Note:It is suggested by the officials for the trekkers to be accompanied by a guide during the trek.
Outline Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,300m/4,264 ft)
Day 02: Kathmandu valley sightseeing & trek preparation
Day 03: Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,420m/4,658ft), 8-9 hrs drive
Day 04: Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2340m/7,675ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Day 05: Lama Hotel to Langtang village (3,480m/11,415ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Day 06: Langtang village to Kyanjing Gompa (3,870m/12,697ft), 3-4 hrs walk
Day 07: Explore day at Kyanjin Gompa
Day 08: Kyanjin Gumpa to Lama Hotel (2340m/7,675ft), 6-7 hrs walk
Day 09: Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru Village (1,900m/6,232ft), 5-6 hrs walk
Day 10: Thulo Syabru to Sing Gompa (3330m/10,922ft), 4-5 hrs walk
Day 11: Sing Gumpa to Gosainkunda Lake (4380m/14,366ft), 4-5 hrs walk
Day 12: Gosainkunda to Tharepati (3600m/11,808ft) via Lauribina La pass (4610m/15120ft), 7-8 hrs walk
Day 13: Tharepati to Tarkeghyang (2,600m/8,528ft), 5-6hrs walk
Day 14: Tarkeghyang to Sermanthang (2,690m/8,823ft), 4-5 hrs walk
Day 15: Sermanthang to Melamchi Pul bazzar (900m/2952ft) to Kathmandu, 5-6 hrs walk
Day 16: Departure from Kathmandu
